The leadership of the South African chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party of Nigeria has appointed Mr Sylvester Goerge to serve as the new National Deputy Secretary.
The Ikeja High Court on Monday, March 27, sentenced a domestic staff, Joseph Ogbu, to death by hanging for killing his 89-year-old employer, Ajoke John and her daughter, Oreoluwa John, 38, in Lagos. The convict, who hails from Oju Local Govt Area of Benue State, brutally murdered the victims at their residence at Number 4 Ogunlana Drive in Surulere, on June 19, 2019, 24 hours after he was employed. Justice Modupe Nicole-Clay held that the prosecution had sufficiently proven the three-count charge bordering on armed robbery and murder against the convict. Nicole-Clay held that the defendant confessed to the crime as he admitted to living with the deceased and was the only witness of the incident. The Chairman of Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Yabagi Sani, has asked the Department of State Service (DSS) to name and apprehend those it said are behind plans to install an interim government in the country. The DSS had in a statement earlier on Wednesday said it discovered a plot by “misguided” political actors to set aside the constitution and install an interim government in the country. However, in a swift reaction on Wednesday, Sani said it is not enough for the DSS to announce a plot for interim government, charging them to go further and name the plotters as well as take action against them. “To say the least, it is an embarrassment because I believe that the DSS, the agency that is in charge of gathering intelligence and then passing intelligence to other agencies, are supposed to take action. A Labour Party governorship aspirant in the forthcoming governorship primary holding in Imo State, Humphrey Anumudu, has died. He was found dead in his home in Lagos state on Friday evening March 24. Late Anumudu was reported dead in his Lagos home after returning from a meeting at the LP secretariat in Abuja. The deceased was a native of Mbieri Ancient Kingdom in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State. He was said to be the winner of the Peoples Democratic Party governorship primary in the state in 1998 before the ticket was ceded to Achike Udenwa who went on to rule the state between 1999 and 2007. Since then, he had been contesting for the number one seat of the state. In 2019, he was the Zenith Labour party governorship candidate. He was seeking to run for the seat of Imo state governor on the platform of Labour Party when he was found dead. The deceased was a younger brother to the pioneer CEO of Globe Motors, Willy Anumudu May his soul rest in peace, Amen.
