Delta Youths storm police headquarters with corpse of man allegedly killed over N100 bribe


 Angry youths in Delta state on Wednesday, April 5, stormed the state police command headquarters with the corpse of a young man allegedly shot dead over ‘’N100 bribe'' by some police officers along Ugbolu-Asara road. 

 

The youths blocked a major road in Asaba to protest the alleged killing before carrying the corpse of the young man to the police headquarters in Asaba, to protest the killing.

 

The state police command is yet to comment on this development.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress(TUC)  have suspended their planned strike over naira scarcity. The two unions said they would monitor the availability of cash in commercial banks for two weeks before deciding on the next line of action. The strike would have started today. Domestic worker to die by hanging in Lagos

  The Ikeja High Court on Monday, March 27, sentenced a domestic staff, Joseph Ogbu, to death by hanging for killing his 89-year-old employer, Ajoke John and her daughter, Oreoluwa John, 38, in Lagos.    The convict, who hails from Oju Local Govt Area of Benue State, brutally murdered the victims at their residence at Number 4 Ogunlana Drive in Surulere, on June 19, 2019, 24 hours after he was employed.    Justice Modupe Nicole-Clay held that the prosecution had sufficiently proven the three-count charge bordering on armed robbery and murder against the convict.    Nicole-Clay held that the defendant confessed to the crime as he admitted to living with the deceased and was the only witness of the incident.    "He killed Adejoke by strangling her and Oreoluwa by stabbing her to death. NDLEA Arrests Businessman, Intercepts Brazil-bound Cocaine, Meth and others

  Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have arrested a businessman, Molokwu Nwachukwu, who frequents China, Dubai, Pakistan, and Vietnam, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Ikeja Lagos for concealing thirty-six (36) parcels of cocaine in different parts of his check-in bags, hand luggage and two pairs of slippers, while heading to Southeast Asia. Molokwu was arrested at the screening point of the MMIA Terminal 2 while attempting to board his flight to Vietnam on Wednesday 22nd March. A total of thirty-six parcels of whitish powdery substance that tested positive to Cocaine with a gross weight of 1.00 kilogram were recovered from the handles of his bags and soles of two pairs of slippers in his luggage. The suspect claims he travels frequently to China, Dubai, Pakistan and Vietnam, from where he imports baby wears he distributes from his Onitsha, Anambra state base.
