Delta Gov-elect and running mate, receive Certificate of Return

 








DELTA State Governor elect, Sheriff Oborevwori, his deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, have been presented Certificate of Return, following their victory at the March 18 gubernatorial election in the state.

The Certificate of Return was presented by the National Commissioner, Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in charge of Edo, Delta and Bayelsa, Mrs Roda Gumus.
The ceremony was held at the INEC headquarters, Asaba, Delta State.

The 29 members-elect of the State House of Assembly were also presented certificates of return.

NLC suspends planned strike over naira scarcity for two weeks

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress(TUC)  have suspended their planned strike over naira scarcity. The two unions said they would monitor the availability of cash in commercial banks for two weeks before deciding on the next line of action. The strike would have started today. Presidents of the  NLC, Joe Ajaero and TUC, Festus Osifo,  announced the decision during a news conference after their National Executive Council meetings in Abuja yesterday. But the scarcity of cash has yet to abate in Enugu, Enugu State and Onitsha in Anambra State. In Onitsha for instance, policemen attached to one of the commercial banks had to fire into the air to disperse angry customers. S ome of the customers sustained injuries while scampering to safety. The NLC had on March 13, issued a seven-day ultimatum to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to make naira notes available to the public. NDLEA Arrests Businessman, Intercepts Brazil-bound Cocaine, Meth and others

  Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have arrested a businessman, Molokwu Nwachukwu, who frequents China, Dubai, Pakistan, and Vietnam, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Ikeja Lagos for concealing thirty-six (36) parcels of cocaine in different parts of his check-in bags, hand luggage and two pairs of slippers, while heading to Southeast Asia. Molokwu was arrested at the screening point of the MMIA Terminal 2 while attempting to board his flight to Vietnam on Wednesday 22nd March. A total of thirty-six parcels of whitish powdery substance that tested positive to Cocaine with a gross weight of 1.00 kilogram were recovered from the handles of his bags and soles of two pairs of slippers in his luggage. The suspect claims he travels frequently to China, Dubai, Pakistan and Vietnam, from where he imports baby wears he distributes from his Onitsha, Anambra state base.  Arsenal Super Eagles might not be able to get Arsenal on loan striker, Folarin Balogun as US caretaker coach, Anthony Hudson has confirmed that American officials have met with the player amid speculation he could pledge his international future to the United States. Recall that Balogun’s international future has been a topic of discussion recently after England manager, Gareth Southgate snubbed him during a call up to the national team despite the on-loan Reims being the second highest goal scorer in Ligue one with Reims. Balogun born in New York moved to England as a two-year-old, but his parents are from Nigeria. He could represent the United States, England and Nigeria, the country of his parents birth.
